With over 48 editions of Inter IIT Sports Meet successfully conducted, we here at IIT Kanpur thought that why only an Inter IIT sports meet? We are a bunch of country's premier Technical Institutions and it's our prime responsibility to celebrate the spirit of innovation in technology and we must have Technical Meets meant solely for the IITs.
Hence the Science and Technology Council of IIT Kanpur, in association with Techkriti'13, came up with an idea to celebrate with the fellow IIT's the innovative 'Indian' ways of doing the impossible, the innovative ways of 'Jugaad'!
A Hindi word that loosely translates as "the art of finding an effective solution using limited resources." Jugaad; however crude or unstructured; are the most feasible and cost effective solutions to a problem. Under the banner of "Jugaad - ...Ho Jayega", we intend to bring out these viable solutions, which use ingenuity coupled with locally available resources rather than High Tech research outcomes.
"Jugaad - ....Ho Jayega" provides an opportunity to observe the everyday problems seen in society and come up with a solution by making use of existing related/ unrelated resources. The event will invite entries from the fellow IITs. The entries will be judged on the basis of their viability, feasibility, cost and availability of resources used in it. The event will have a Panel Discussion; the panel will consist of Eminent Personalities as well as 'Jugaadu' Entrepreneurs. A detailed analysis of the 'Jugaad' of all the teams will be done and the deserving few will be chosen by the Associates to turn it into a commercially viable product.
So come March 14th, we will see more of Jugaad in the 'IIT' way! For more information on participation, Rules and Regulations check out the Techkriti website.
