The St Andrew's College library believes in the famous saying by Francis Bacon "Reading serves for delight, for ornament, for ability. The crafty condemn it, the simple admire it; the wise use it." Keeping this in mind, it has encouraged many students to read and visit the library during their college days. According to the college prospectus, it is the nerve centre of all academic activities in the college, which is rightly true. In other words, it is the seed to the plant of academics.

It is situated on the ground floor in the college and I think possesses a certain magnetic field which pulls many Andrean readers towards it. Now it is nowhere near how the conventional libraries looked, with rack full of dusty old books in shelves with bespectacled geeks busy reading them. It is in fact plenty of books in neat bookshelves, labeled and marked for easier access to the reader in finding a book. If he is unable to find the book he is looking for, he has the computer at his disposal which helps him in searching for the required book.

This particular property makes the "Library" technologically advanced than previously and is thus of great help to the students in the college. The computers also serve the students purpose of finding information related to projects through the Internet. It has thus made searching of books in the library as well as searching project related information easier for the students. There are students constantly found to be reading in the library at every time of the day or researching information on their projects. Many treat it like their hangout place in college instead of the canteen or the gymkhana and prefer spending time dwelling among the books.

The library also offers membership to the students and teachers of the college and other facilities useful to them which could help in them in their academic activities, for example reference books as well as to past exam papers when exams are round the corner. Books too are issued to the students, for the purpose of reading, which is availed by many avid readers in the college.

A common face to find in the library is a fellow BMM'er Jocelyn Fernandes and another is surely Mehul Jogadia, who if not anything definitely comes to read the newspaper in the library. This comes to show that the library is definitely a place that many consider to be in at St Andrew's College, where from the geek to the cool guys, everybody visits it more than once in their college life.
