Aavega '11

Passion, Excitement, Emotion. The college resounded with the emotions articulated in the tagline of Aavega, the cultural day for Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore which was held on the 4th of November 2011. The ceremony began on an auspicious note with a lamp lighting ceremony and an invocation to Lord Ganesha. The guests on the dais included the Dean of Academics, Dr. B.N.Nagaraj, The Vice Dean, Dr. Rakesh S.G and Ms. Jyotsna from the English Department
Nandini Mathan, the Student Council President, introduced Aavega to the audience. The opening ceremony concluded with a drama, Moksha, put up by the college drama team. Following this, the cultural day began in earnest.
Containing a wide variety of events, ranging from singing and dancing to sketching and debating, Aavega ensured that everyone had a platform to express themselves. The events were divided into three categories: Main Stage, Seminar Hall and Classroom. The Main Stage events included Solo Dance, Group Song, Instrumental music and Group Dance. Aavega was unique in that it was the first time MBA students took part in events with the B.Tech students.
In addition to these competitions, Aavega also included a number of game stalls which ensured that every student had something to do. Graffiti spots were put up near various events which allowed the students to express their views.
The next day was the South Zone selections for our college main teams. Making Aavega the screening platform for the same. College team members showed absolutely no mercy to any of the home participants.
The Drama Team of ASE-B had their One Act Play Screening MOKSHA. After which they truly became Legends in the campus. "OMG" was what everyone there could utter after it. For an after death story the dance team Tap@7 performed began to perform their extraordinary Zombie Dance which was unfortunately stopped due to rain. But, their 2 min performance on & off stage was enough to scare every being present there.
At the end of the day, some participants won, some lost, but everyone made a mark, and took home memories of their first Aavega.
