Sports and Gaming fever

Sports and gaming is an integral part of a vast population of students who reside in the hostel on college campuses and so is the case with students at NU. Whenever we get the time, we make way for cricket . The cricket fever here is so high that we also had a cricket league by the name of NUPL (NU premier league) wherein, some of the star performers in cricket got to own a franchise and each franchise handled equal amounts of virtual money. Then we had auctions and different players were allocated teams by bidding for them by the franchises with the virtual money they had. Thus, it was a great experience and the cricket fever was prevalent in the campus for a whole month and now the final matches are awaited. We also had an inaugural ceremony in the auditorium which introduced the NUPL concept and was followed by bidding.
The second fever on campus is the AOE (Age of Empires) fever. AOE is a strategic game
and though some students on campus find it funny for such a game to create so much enthusiasm (including me), but yet it does grip a lot of us on campus. Building a shared server a lot of us are found playing AOE and keeping the grand price of an ice-cream (normally the hot chocolate fudge) for the winning team. Apart from the above two influencing factors we also have a lot of other sports that create enthusiasm (though for a limited time), when the inter-house matches for the specific sport is arriving. Notable among these are tennis, table tennis and volley ball. One month before the inter-house matches are drawing near we start practicing for these sports. Though there are a lot of enthusiastic tennis and volleyball fans (due to whom we were about to reach the semi final of the BITS sports fest, but just missed it by a whisker). Shot put is another very important sport on campus and a student from our campus won a silver medal in the BITS sports meet in shot-put. Summing it up sports and games are an integral part of our campus life.
