Winter is here, and it's colder than the stare your date's parent gives you when you drop her home at 1 am. Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration. Nothing is as cold as that stare th ... Moving on! Exam times, deadlines, project submissions, committee work, SPACE (the S.P. cultural fest) work etc; all of this put together is one heck of a workload. And so each one of us creates ways to cope with this pressure. This in turn leads to the development of a regular habit or 'Ritual' if you will.

These Rituals may be the most random, inane activities ever done, but to the person who practices them are a gift from Heaven. It's like God came down, handcrafted it, put on a little silver tray and hand-delivered it especially to them. For example, coffee sales have multiplied at The Shack in S.P.I.T. exponentially, along with the amount of water, roaches and various goodies mixed liberally along with it. The main reason for that would be the early morning coffee drinkers. Then there are the poor chaps who live far off and have to suffer through the hustle and bustle of train travel. Their day is made when they catch that particular 8:25 local and that specific compartment which stop exactly opposite the exit at their destination so they can reach college on time.

Then there are particular T-shirts, shoes, underwear (hopefully washed) people bank on to make sure their day goes by with their sanity intact. Precise times to go to the washroom, apply and re-apply make-up, brush hair are more popular with the fairer sex (as far as I know). Gorging on the Monday afternoon chicken Frankie, pretty girls smiling with orange lips because of the orange ice-candy in April/May, reading novels in lectures in the first month of every semester. They may seem like nothing special to you. Grown-up people putting faith in such small rituals. It's pretty funny when you think about it.
