Cul-Ah Day 0: Calm before the storm

One would expect the eve of one of the biggest inter-collegiate fests in Bangalore to be hustling with the madness of the last minute preparation, mix ups and the quick fixes. If one would pass by the MCC or even through it for that matter on the 8th February they would not have even guessed that the Cul-ah 2012 Zeitgiest is set to happen the very next day.

Superficially the usual calm and cool air of MCC was maintained. So much so that even the students wondered why there was no activity taking place and why they couldn't find the Union Members at each other's throats or Association Secretaries snapping at one another.

A very common quizzical look was common in the faces of every student who left MCC after class. "Why isn't anything happening?", most their faces read.

Unless attention was paid to it was hard to actually notice girls in groups tucked away in the pockets of basements and in quite corners of the corridors toiling away. As most of the preparation did not meet the eye of the passers by, they assumed that nothing was being done. Union Members pacing up and down the Union Room (URoom as we call it) pretending to be all peaceful till you catch them take long breaths to calm their nerves. Phone calls being made at the pace of lightning. Bikes plying between the URoom and the basement where the Decor Team had claimed domain.

The last hour of the day was marked with the bell and out came the hidden activity. Volunteers, Union Members, Security In-charges, Registration Team all on their feet running all around college, transforming it in a span of hours. With in no time, there were posters up, the Decor Team had placed the results of their sweat and toil in strategic locations. In tandem with the theme Zeitgeist, the girls really did live up to the spirit of time.

Even that was no hustle. That was just the calm. The calm before the storm.
