BMM Festivals=Stress busters+Unlimited fun

Feb 10th 2012 04:06AM

Amidst the busy schedule of internal tests, assignments and project submissions, the real stress buster are festivals. Apart from hanging in and around college with your friends, it is the one place where you will have loads of fun. Currently, it is that part of the year when all the submissions are due and it really takes the life out of us, especially in the case of BMM students, this is purely through observation and not being biased.

Being a student of BMM at St Andrew's College, it is a personal experience where we get loads of assignments and projects all together and hardly have time for breaks. At such times, the festivals keep us from getting an overdose of academics and thus act as a lease to life. Apart from the regular college festivals like AWMTC, In Tune in music, Jhankaar in dance and Olio in Drama; the other festivals that keep the BMM students busy are Polaris, Blitzkrieg, Detour, XYZ and Cutting Chai which are some of the major fests throughout the year.

Even if you aren't competing, you still have the time of your life at these festivals, while cheering for your contingents which have the wackiest of names which relate to films, cartoons and many other aspects. Screaming the slogans or chanting to "Om Shankara Yeti Jai" is all part of the fun where you can let down your hair and also dance to glory. There is a whole lot of effort being put into winning these festivals by everybody especially in the PR department, which is usually headed by Kshama Joshi, student of TYBMM at St Andrew's. If you aren't a part of anything in the festival and attending lectures, you will notice a certain Natasha Pereira, fellow classmate and a very good dancer scurrying out of class for dance practices during pre-festival preparation. These are the best times of the year, but it certainly isn't a compromise for academics, all thanks to BMM Department Head, Prof. Saudamini
