Coffee kicks at MCC's Chechi's
The amount of conviction required to get oneself out of the bed and make it past the gates of college on time should be rewarded.
As a very ardent late comer whose day begins with the lunch break, I make it to very few morning classes. It takes immense patience to stay up in class and have a mind open enough to engulf the vast input of information thrown at one's face and direct it into the cerebrum. That is where I lack. Having been in the education industry for decades now, Mount Carmel College, I believe has found the perfect solution to such unmotivated tired young individuals, the canteen coffee. Hallelujah!
Famously called "Chechi's", our canteen has to best coffee in town to offer. A few shots of it wakes up the laziest soul and gets the adrenalin activity kicking in no time. My day is incomplete without my liberator, the pious filter coffee. It took several badly made coffees for me to realise the importance of Chechis' coffee in my life.
While at Mood Indigo, the IIT Mumbai cultural festival, my eyes constantly wandered in search of my constant companion. Too much sugar, too much milk, too strong, too light, too little soul, very little zing, the coffees disappointed me no end. Even outside the gates of IIT did not have a decent enough coffee to offer. I craved for the stainless steel glass with piping hot coffee. I came back to Bangalore disappointed that the 'City of Dreams' couldn't stir up a decent coffee for me like my college could.
After a long wait, when the college reopened after the Christmas break, I reunited with my real self. Everything from the walk from the main gate to the canteen station, to ordering the coffee and taking the first sip almost seemed like it was in slow motion. I felt whole again.
