Talent Engagement
"We are living in the 'BEST of times and the WORST of times'. Best of times because of the technical advancement and the "google era" gaining importance and 'worst' because the change is happening at a rapid pace and Mr. Darwin says, " If you do not adapt to change, you will get obsolete".Mr. Ankit R. Nagpal, began with all these "engaging" words in the seminar conducted by him in the Vivekananda Hall in the MIT Campus. Mr. Nagpal is the HR Deployment Manager in the Tata Consultancy Services and conducts such seminars in many educational institutions.
Mr. Ankit was of the opinion that, "Engaging employees in the organization is the need of the hour. If we do not engage, they would either run away or become unproductive". He went on explaining the" generation gap" which is causing havoc in the industry. He bifurcated the generations into, 'Generation X' who are born between 1965 to 1979, who were also the 'baby boomers', 'Generation Y' who were born between 1979 to 1994 and the 'Generation Z' who are born after the year 1994. According to him, the 'Generation Z' would be the biggest challenge for the industry as they are in the middle of western and Indian culture, i.e. , they are under maximum stress and thus more dangerous.
Mr. Nagpal laid down three most important reasons for the engagement of employees in the organization, they were to increase productivity, to achieve better results and more satisfaction. He continued giving a live example of TCS, where maximum employees are hooked to the organization because of the attractive Health Insurance Scheme (HIS) and the brand image.
He also highlighted the words of Mr. Chandra, CEO of TCS, in the same context saying that
"Today's generation is the new normal". They at TCS believe that
