Construction at Venky's

Rubble, cement, plaster is all over the campus of Sri Venkateswara College. The 50 year old building is getting revamped. The smell of freshly painted classrooms, new, clean blackboards, strong doors with a little window so that you can peep inside instead of pushing the door open and causing much distraction to the teacher's dismay is all around.

A huge, new auditorium is also in its final phase of completion. Judging from its exterior, it looks grand. More like a stadium that would house the entire student body of Venky, cheering on, on any occasion of inter-college events.

And, then there is the beautiful cyber café. Earlier, the library housed 2 rooms with a few computers in each of them, the ones in dilapidated condition were kept for the children's use and the others were used up by the staff members and these rooms were collectively referred to as the computer lab.

But now, the first floor domiciles the splendid Computer Lab done in sparkling white tiles, and fresh white pain. A left turn from the stairs leads to a gallery, that opens up a glass door into this white, new world. It just about touches the yellowed walls of the campus before stretching into a white gallery, which is constantly monitored around by cameras.

Inside the glass doors, several other rooms fall on both sides off a little white path. On the right side, is the large computer lab for students use. It consists of rows of most advanced flat screen monitors across plush chairs. Regular check on proper internet usage is manned by a senior. Entry is done with a proper identity card and individual user name and password is handed down to all students after verification.

On the left hand side is the technical department taking control of operations, and a classroom with a projector screen and chairs.

Change is good. And in Venky's case, it's also modern and beautiful.
