An argument begins in SRCC

"An argument begins here," reads the poster of the 7th E&Y (Ernst and Young) SRCC Debating festival of 2012. And it does indeed begin here in SRCC. Every year, this festival attracts the best and the brightest debaters from across the country. The entire debating society of the college has been dedicatedly working to make this event one to remember. Headed by secretary, Pranay Bery, and joint secretary, Aditi Verma, the college's debating society has a reputation for being extremely successful in debating as well as organizing events.

The festival starts on the 10th of February, ends on the 14th and nothing less of high-quality debating can be expected during these five days. SRCC's debating society has put together four main events for the participants. The famous Shri Ram Memorial Debate will be familiar to those who have participated before. It follows the conventional debate format where eight teams will be able to qualify for the finals round. Reputed judges as well as awesome cash prizes are promised for participants. The second event is called 'Synergy', a group discussion. 'Renegade', the third event requires you to argue for both sides of the motion. The motions will be given on spot to keep things exciting. Finally the fourth event is called 'Crossfire' which is a proper 3 on 3 debate where two teams from each college will be allowed to participate. While the Shri Ram Memorial Debate and Crossfire are by invitation only, the other two events (Synergy and Renegade) will be held on the 10th and is open to anyone who registers on the same day (10am onwards).

The budget for the event is Rs. 3 lakhs and a total of Rs. 1.5 lakhs will be given away as prizes to the winners of each event.
