Life at IIIT Hyderabad - part II

Gaming is a major means of entertainment and fun at IIIT. Especially after a busy week, when its time to relax on a weekend, Counter Strike is at its best.

One of the advantages of being in a hostel is that you have many of us with similar interests. So, there's nothing stopping us from enjoying the way we want to.

It's 12 pm on Saturday and you can hear gunshots all around. It's war time. Two or three of us sit in a room to start a netwok game and then others keep on joining as they discover it. So, the fight between the two camps begin. Once the battle starts almost the entire second floor of OBH (old boys hostel)-Block becomes engrossed. It's counter strike and network gaming at its best.

The full power of adhoc connections is used and even some of us who might have never played conter strike before join and have loads of fun. Almost everyone in IIIT has a passion for gaming and with a Sunday the next day there's nothing stopping us. Once if we get started the gaming session continues for at least 3-4 hours till we are completely exhausted. The next morning many of us wake up late ... for most of us it is actually past 12 in the afternoon.

There are only very few people seen for breakfast in the mess and some of us also miss our lunches.

This was a brief part of hostel life in IIIT ... my next article is about the academic part I enjoy most of the time and is boring for some ... the programming assignments.
