Gaurav Sir

Feb 3rd 2012 09:00AM

The word teacher brings to our mind an image of some elderly person giving us stern, sharp looks through their spectacles with whom students share love-hate relationships. However, Gaurav sir changed our stereotyped perceptions about teachers. He is a young and enthusiastic professor who has taught us subjects like history, contemporary issues and political science right from first year in BMM.

Perhaps, he is one of the very few humble, down to earth, but yet excellent, teachers who don't mind being called by their first name. He does not want us to use any suffix like 'sir'. But at the same time, he is very serious about our projects. They are to be done by us, not by 'Google'. He can spot the difference due to his vast knowledge and experience in his field. He is also very creative and a good Hindi poet.
Many a times, we often reach late to class just to hear our teachers scold us and say, "You are too early for the next class". But Gaurav sir is unlike any of them. And we don't even have to worry about proxies. He never checks them; in fact he never even checks the attendance. He even allows his students to bring in food from the canteen and munch on it while listening to the lecture. His lectures are usually in the early morning around 7 a.m and once he even ordered tea for the whole class to freshen up all of us.
An apt example of his humble nature would be the day he had forgotten to turn up for his lecture. Instead of giving any cooked up excuse like he was busy or caught up with work, he apologized to the entire class and told that he had completely forgotten about the lecture. To sum it up, Gaurav sir is a great friend, teacher and an experienced guide.
