Harbinger of 'Parivartan'

It has been over half a month we said good bye to 2011, and welcomed 2012 with open arms, and of course open hearts! But with that, we at BITS Pilani also geared up to see what has never been seen before, to be a part of what has never been done before, the vision, the mission to let BITS Pilani grow into a new dimensions of progress – "Parivartan". As mentioned earlier in one of the blog posts, Project "Parivartan" has already been officially flagged off by Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor BITS Pilani.

December 2011 saw the first ray of this sunrise. As a part of the projects, Vision 2020, Mission 2012, BITS unveiled the new online face of BITS Pilani. A large part of the redesign is an attempt to integrate the multiple websites of the four campuses, the departments, centers and other initiatives to present a cohesive and consistent view all through this one website www.bits-pilani.ac.in.

For us BITSians, the website's url changed from being referred to as discovery.bits-pilani.ac.in to universe.bits-pilani.ac.in, to reinforce the idea of amalgamation. The new website covers our four campuses seamlessly and allows growth of the online presence through a custom-built Content Management System. The website's new cleaner and simpler look was widely appreciated. One may visit the website to feel the difference!

Another unprecedented change that BITS saw in its system was reducing of the cut-off for admission, from 80% to 75% in the twelfth class board examination. This is a major step along with the change of grading system in BITS i.e introduction of grades as A-, B-, C-.

And as stated before, from the first day of the second semester, we could judge that the work for the Project "Parivartan" had begun in the winter semester break. When we entered the campus the first noticeable thing was that the C-lawns were dug up due to construction and excavation
